- Consider all the wonderful times that you and your best friend shared. If you are able to remember all of these moments, then surely the friendship had a depth of importance. Nevertheless, the reason for the dispute was probably nothing more than a misunderstanding
- Think about the last conversation that you and your best friend shared. If you were the one that took the comment in the wrong way, then realize that your friend was not trying to offend you. If you were the one that said the comment that you did not believe was offensive, then try to understand that your friend had the ability to perceive it as such.
- Forgive. Holding on to petty arguments is never the correct way to leave a once decent friendship. Forgiveness can of course be difficult, but it is the more mature thing to do. The friend that took the comment in the wrong way needs to forgive the other friend for not telling him or her how they felt. The friend that made the comment needs to forgive the other friend for not being able to state why they felt the way that they felt about the comment
Although it may be difficult emotionally, forgiving is the right decision. It will make you feel better in the end. Sometimes forgiveness can take take, but never give up hope.
